Optics & Fitting Fundamentals

Almost every complaint about image quality comes from one of three main parameters: working distance, pupil distance, prescription. This module shows you how to get all three right. It also shows you how to explain them to a customer.

After this module you will be able to

  • Explain why a loupe is sharp at one distance only, and what this means for a fitting
  • Choose the magnification that fits the clinician’s daily work—not the highest magnification
  • Measure working distance correctly, and know the range of every loupe family
  • Take a good FrameFit™ photo set, and see at once when a set is not good
  • Know when internal correction is required, and offer external correction with confidence
  • Give the same clear answer about lens coatings every time

Watch or read — you chooseEvery lesson has two versions: a video and a written version. Both cover the same material. Choose the one you prefer. The quiz is the same for both. Some videos are still being made. Where a video is missing, the written version is complete, and the video will appear later in the same place.

How this course worksLessons open in order. A lesson is finished when you pass its quiz. Every answer must be correct. You can repeat the quiz as many times as you need. The final test needs 80% and allows three attempts. When you pass it, you receive your certificate. You need this certificate before you can receive a demo kit.
